Join us for a thrilling 3-day trek to Mount Meru, Tanzania’s hidden gem. Towering at 4,566m inside Arusha National Park, Mount Meru is Africa’s fifth-highest peak offering dramatic crater views, rich wildlife encounters, and a perfect warm-up climb before Kilimanjaro.

Guided by our experienced mountain team and accompanied by an armed park ranger, you’ll ascend through lush rainforest, alpine moorland, and rugged ridgelines — summiting just in time for sunrise over Mount Kilimanjaro.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arusha – Momella Gate – Miriakamba Hut (2,514m)

• Day 1: Arusha – Momella Gate – Miriakamba Hut (2,514m)
• Pick-up from your hotel in Arusha or Moshi and transfer to Momella Gate.
• After park formalities, meet your guide, porters, and ranger.
• Begin your trek through scenic rainforest — expect to spot giraffes, buffaloes, monkeys, and birdlife.
• Arrive at Miriakamba Hut for dinner and overnight stay.
• Hiking time: 4–6 hours
• Distance: ~10 km
• Elevation gain: 1,014m
• Meals: Lunch, Dinner

Day 2: Miriakamba Hut – Saddle Hut (3,570m) + Little Meru (3,820m)

• Steep hike through montane forest and moorland to Saddle Hut.
• Afternoon acclimatization walk to Little Meru (optional).
• Early dinner and rest in preparation for the summit.
• Hiking time: 3–5 hours to Saddle + 1.5 hours optional hike
• Distance: ~8 km
• Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 3: Saddle Hut – Socialist Peak (4,566m) – Momella Gate – Arusha

• Midnight wake-up and begin summit attempt by torchlight.
• Pass Rhino Point and Cobra Point before reaching the summit at sunrise.
• Take in stunning views of the crater and Mount Kilimanjaro in the distance.
• Descend to Saddle Hut for breakfast, continue down to Momella Gate.
• Transfer back to Arusha/Moshi.
• Hiking time: 10–12 hours
• Distance: ~18 km
• Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
